Riso India continue to strive for Environmental Conservation

Riso India understand its responsibilities in Protecting Environment and committed to full compliance with E-waste rules in India.

Riso India has also made arrangements to build the necessary awareness amongst its channel partners, customers and employees about the requirement of E-waste Rules 2016 for enabling them to participate in the Government's initiative for environmentally sound management of e-waste.

Riso End Customers and its authorised channel partners in India could return their End of Life products, covered under E-waste (Management and Handling) Rules issued by the Ministry of Environment and Forest (Government of India) for safe disposal through our channelized E-waste disposal process.

Under the E-Waste Rule 2016, for effective disposal and recycling of End of Life products in the market, the Riso India authorised recycler (producer responsibility organization) will collect the E-Waste generated from authorised channel partners/ customer locations and transport the same to its Dismantling/ Recycling unit.

The Riso customers/ authorised channel partner could contact us via E-mail/Phone (product-recycling@risoindia.com / 0120-4721300), to make arrangement to pick up the End of Life product (E-Waste)  via its authorised recycler.

Extended Producer Responsibility

Extended producer's responsibility (EPR) is main feature of the E-waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2016, wherein the producer of electrical and electronic equipment was given the responsibility of managing such equipment after its 'end of life', thus the producer is responsible for their products once the consumer discards them.

We will strive to create awareness amongst our channel partners/ end customers about managing e-waste, protecting the environment, and importantly for following the recycling and take-back process for end of life products.

As 'producer', Riso India has the arrangements to

  • Collect and channelize of e-waste generated in repairing activity and 'end of life' of the product through their authorized recycler.
  • Create all round awareness through various campaigns & information dissemination

We strive to work closely with its channel partners & customers in the course of our day to day business activities towards promoting environmental conservation.

We encourage the collection of used ink cartridges and machines so that these can be handled in a most environment friendly manner rather than be sending to landfill sites and pollute our earth.

Such metals/ alloys could be highly dangerous to environment/ health, if abandoned openly.
  • Plastic materials are used for structural components such as the covers, fans & ink cartridges etc. The plastic materials collected will be recycled as energy resources after going through a heat recovery process. Alternatively, this material can be used as a form of recycled plastic once they have been broken down and processed.

How to identify that this is an e-waste product

Any electrical or electronic part/product/accessories having wires / PCB and, it is not usable and cannot be repaired

Why re-cycling should be done? Benefits.

Recycling of End of life product is beneficial in following ways:

  • Encourage recycling of all useful and valuable material from e-waste so as to conserve the ever depleting natural resources. Recycling end-of-life products is vital if we are to save resources and minimize waste.
  • Also scientific disposal of e-waste reduces the environment pollution.
  • The correct disposal of old product will help prevent potential negative consequences for the environment and human health.

What are the negative consequences if proper recycling is not done in scientific way?

  • Any disposal through unauthorized agencies/person will attract action under Environment (Protection) Act 1986, and is liable to face consequences in regard to E-waste Environment (Protection) Act 1986.

Followings are negative consequences of disposal of product if not done in scientific way.

  • Toxic material present in e-waste get mixed with earth, air, water etc. and causes health issues.
  • Batteries contains highly hazardous element.
  • Burning of rubber & Plastic in open area causes air pollution.

How the product is to be properly handled while disposing it off.

Product should not be damage, dismantle or thrown in municipal waste. It should be packed and handed over to company authorized re-cycler.

What are the effects if the product is dismantled by the user.

All the products are safe for human being to use. However in case of breakage/dismantling in unscientific way could cause damage to environment or human being (directly or indirectly). Chances are there that user might come in contact with chemicals which could cause irritation in skin & eyes, might cause dizziness etc. Also sharp edges of electronic items could cause damage to body.

What will happen if the product is not properly handled and is given/sold to scrap dealer like any other ordinary scrap.

In case e-waste is sold to scrap dealers, they don't have scientific tools to recycle the products and moreover they are not authorized by the Pollution Control Board. In open area they burn the plastic parts, break the seal of parts which carries gases and try to extract metals. Such smoke and gases pollute the environment. Also hazardous residual are thrown in landfills which is dangerous for land, water, air and living beings.
